Fresno Pacific University (FPU) is the only private Christian university of the liberal arts, sciences and professions in central California. FPU was recently ranked among the top 25 western regional universities. Additionally, Fresno Pacific was rated fourth among these top regional universities as a best value in education. FPU is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).

Fresno Pacific University has a combined undergraduate and graduate population of 1,600 students, with about 480 residing on campus. FPU serves people from a wide diversity of religious, ethnic and national cultures. FPU is committed to helping students develop character and competence in order to become effective leaders who inspire, empower and serve others.

The Intensive English Language Program (IELP) is designed for international students and recent immigrants who want to improve their English abilities and grow in their cross-cultural understanding. Special features of IELP include:

  • 23 hours of weekly instruction
  • Beginning to Advanced Levels

  • Highly-trained and experienced teachers
  • Small class size
  • Computers used in all levels

  • Field trips and excursions
  • TOEFL preparation courses

IELP students may enroll for eight-week sessions or for the entire Fall and Spring semesters.

Undergraduate Programs: Fresno Pacific University offers majors in many areas of undergraduate study including Biblical and Religious Studies, Humanities, Interdisciplinary Studies, Natural Science and Mathematics and Social Sciences. The three most popular majors for international students are Business (International, Administrative, Accounting and Marketing), Psychology and Intercultural Studies.

Application requirements include the completion of an undergraduate application and a TOEFL score of 500 on the paper test or 173 on the computer version. Financial aid is available for international students who have been accepted into the undergraduate program.

Graduate Programs: Many graduate majors are offered, including Educational Administration, Language, Literacy and Culture, Math / Science Technology Education, Pupil Personnel, Special Education, Teacher Education, Individualized Master of Arts, and Conflict Management and Peacemaking. The most popular majors for international students are Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, Administrative Leadership, Conflict Management and Peacemaking and the Individualized Master of Arts.

Application requirements include the completion of a graduate application and a TOEFL score of 550 on the paper test or 213 on the computer version. Financial aid is available in limited amounts to graduate students.

Financial Aid / Scholarship Opportunities / Costs: Fresno Pacific University values the diversity that international students bring to our campus. Because we understand that funding your education can be challenging, we will do everything we can to make it possible for you to attend.

Financial aid is available to students who have applied and been accepted into the undergraduate program. Financial assistance for Language and Culture Studies or graduate students is limited. Because financial assistance from the U.S. government is not available to international students, other funding is available through Fresno Pacific University.

The International Office will work together with you and the Financial Aid office to create your own personal financial aid package. These packages are comprised of one or several different awards based on merit and need. Students will be considered for all scholarships for which they are eligible. Scholarships include:

  • Performance scholarships (music, athletic)
  • Leadership scholarships (President's, International Leadership)
  • Academic scholarships (from $600 - $6,000)
  • Mennonite Brethren Scholarship (for students from Mennonite Brethren churches only, up to $7,500)
  • Church Match (up to $1,500)
  • Other (from $500 to $1,500)

Many international students find sponsors through their own personal contacts and / or various organizations to help fund their tuition and living expenses. We encourage you to look for financial sources such as these.
