Academic Life: There are more than 60 outstanding undergraduate academic programs. Students receive a solid liberal arts foundation and specialized training in their field of interest, and they will have many opportunities to apply their knowledge in professional settings at companies throughout the Oklahoma City area.

Petree College of Arts and Sciences:

  • The Master of Arts in TESOL program emphasizes both students' academic knowledge and improving their own linguistic skills.
  • The computer science major affords graduates opportunities to develop excellent programming skills and extensive hands-on experience with computer systems.
  • The Mass Communications department finished top five in their region in a recent American Advertising Federation competition.
  • KOCU-TV broadcasts two student programs each week. The department has placed more than 80 percent of graduates in jobs related to their undergraduate majors.

Meinders School of Business:

Kramer School of Nursing:

  • The NCLEX-RN (National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses) pass rate of 98 percent on the first attempt by graduates far exceeds the national average.
  • The traditional Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) prepares students to provide nursing care to address the existing and emerging health care demands of the total patient community.
  • The RN-to-BSN track is an adult education program for Registered Nurses seeking to finish a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing, through nursing classes that meet just one-half day a week.
  • The Bachelor's-to-BSN program is a fast track to the BSN designed for people who already have bachelor's degrees in other fields, who want to change careers to nursing as quickly as possible, and prepare for Registered Nurse licensure.
  • The School also features two masters level programs: One with an emphasis on Nursing Education, and another with an emphasis on Nursing Administration. The School also offers the state's only MSN / MBA option.

Ann Lacy School of American Dance and Arts Management

  • The Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) program is one of the premier preparatory dance programs in the U.S.
  • OKCU offers the only Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree focusing on jazz and tap dancing.
  • The OKCU American Spirit Dance Company has toured extensively in the U.S. and Asia to great acclaim.

The Wimberly School of Religion and Graduate Theological Center

  • This school offers both undergraduate and graduate programs in religion.

School of Law

ELS Language Center, an internationally-known language school, is America's leading provider of English language instruction. One of the centers is located on the OKCU campus. ELS offers one-month long English instruction in twelve different levels. Students may fulfill the University's English requirement by completing level 109 at ELS. The MBA requires level 110. Students who are in levels 107, 108 or 109 may enroll concurrently at OKCU.

In addition to classes in grammar, conversation, reading, writing and listening skills, ELS offers advanced students classes in drama, debate, TOEFL preparation, American culture, test taking, computers, pronunciation and advanced conversation. Field trips and activities are also arranged for students. Students may live in University housing, ELS dorms, in homestays or in private apartments.

Oklahoma City University Admissions Requirements: The equivalent of a 2.0 high school grade point average is required for admission into Oklahoma City University's undergraduate programs, and a 3.0 undergraduate GPA for most graduate programs. A TOEFL score of 500 is required for most programs. GMAT is required for admission to the MBA program.

Once we have received all of your application materials, the evaluation process requires one to two weeks. Please allow time for mailing. A complete application for admission consists of the following:

  • A completed application form with a passport-sized photograph.
  • Originals or certified copies of all academic records (the term certified copies refers to records issued by your previous school(s) with an official seal or stamp on the document. The records should not be copies issued to a student).
  • Students applying to the School of Music must also submit an audition tape.
  • Statement of financial support.
  • Original document showing a TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) score of 500 or better (paper-based), 173 or better (computer-based). Some programs require higher scores. Students (whose native language is not English) may also show intent to study at ELS, a nearby English language training facility. The GMAT will not be accepted as a substitute for the TOEFL.
  • Two Letters of Recommendation (for graduate applicants only).
  • A non-refundable application fee of US $70.00 made payable to Oklahoma City University.

Applying for a Visa: Once you've been accepted at Oklahoma City University, you will receive an admission letter and I-20 document. Follow the instructions to pay the SEVIS fee: http://www.ice.gov/ Take the appropriate documents, along with your statement of financial support, to the nearest U.S. Embassy or U.S. Consulate to apply for an F-1 student visa.


Cost of Attendance and International Student Scholarship Opportunities: Oklahoma City University offers numerous undergraduate and graduate scholarships for international students. At OKCU, your application for admission is also your application for scholarships. When completing your application for admission, indicate the types of scholarships for which you would like to be considered. Please note that international students are not eligible to apply for state or federal financial aid in the United States. Oklahoma City University does not offer grants or loans to international students.
