Start College Courses While You Complete ESL: Shoreline offers a comprehensive English as a Second Language (ESL) program that allows international students to take college classes while completing the higher levels of their ESL training. This unique combination of ESL and academic course work allows Shoreline international students to enter the U.S. educational system in a supportive environment. Shoreline faculty work together to ensure international student success!

No TOEFL: Shoreline does NOT require international student applicants to take the TOEFL examination. Instead, each Shoreline student is asked to take an ESL proficiency test upon arrival in the U.S. in order to place them in the appropriate classes.

Professional / Technical (AAAS) Degrees

For students interested in professional / technical training, Shoreline offers state-of-the-art programs in many of today's most popular fields. These focused programs enable students to gain the professional skills they need to get a job after returning to their home country. Examples of our quality programs include:

Computer Applications: This program will prepare you for a career in microcomputer support or sales. You will be skilled in business computer applications, operating systems, local area networks, systems analysis and design, as well as database and programming languages.

Music Technology: The Music Department at Shoreline Community College, with more than 20 faculty members, is the largest among Washington state's community colleges. This depth allows a student to choose from a full range of offerings, including a two-year classical music theory series, popular music theory, songwriting, private and group vocal and instrumental instruction, music appreciation, jazz history, technical training in audio engineering, ProTools, sound reinforcement, and MIDI composition and production. The Music Technology program at Shoreline is designed to familiarize the student who is interested in music merchandising, audio engineering, Musical Instrument Digital Interface (MIDI) composition / production, and performance practice with the current trends of the profession. Specific options include Digital / Audio Engineering, MIDI Music Production, Music Merchandising, and Performance. Approved electives may include Introduction to Music Theory, Music in World Cultures, Rhythm Section Techniques, Pop and Commercial Music Theory, Advanced Studio and Sound Maintenance.

Graphic Design: You will learn to use computer software applications for graphic design, illustration, web design, and multimedia. Graduates of the Graphic Design option may find employment in a variety of settings including advertising agencies, public relations firms and design studios.
