Computer Science / Engineering: The Department of Computer Science and Engineering provides very high quality educational programs by maintaining a balance between theoretical and experimental aspects of computer science, as well as a balance between software and hardware issues. The department facilitates a collegial atmosphere that is conducive to intellectual and scholarly pursuits of the faculty and students. The department strongly encourages interdisciplinary research. The department offers bachelor of arts, bachelor of science, master of science and doctoral degrees, all with a major in computer science; Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in computer engineering are also available. Current research interests of the faculty include theoretical computer science, databases, visualization, game programming, wired and wireless networks, computer security, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, computer systems architecture, agent-based systems, collaborative learning, parallel and distributed processing, and numerical analysis.
Environmental Ethics / Environmental Philosophy: One of the world's leading graduate programs in Environmental Ethics and Environmental Philosophy is found at the University of North Texas. The faculty is drawn from 19 departments university-wide engaging in interdisciplinary research and instruction involving the ethical issues related to United States and global environmental problems. Teaching areas of the faculty currently include art; the biological sciences; business law; chemistry; communications; economics; education; English; finance; foreign languages and literatures; geography; the health sciences; history; kinesiology, recreation and leisure studies; management; philosophy; political science; psychology; radio, television and film; religion studies; sociology; and social work. The faculty works closely with the Institute of Applied Sciences, the Center for Environmental Economic Studies and Research, the Center for Environmental Philosophy and the major international periodical in the field, Environmental Ethics: An Interdisciplinary Journal Dedicated to the Philosophical Aspects of Environmental Problems.
Information Sciences: The Master's Program objective is to prepare students to: understand the principles, analyze the problems, and design and implement practices related to recordable information, including its creation, communication, identification, selection, acquisition, organization, description, storage, retrieval, preservation, analysis, interpretation, evaluation, synthesis, dissemination and management. The Doctoral Program provides quality education to fit your lifestyle - on campus in Denton or through online courses with two four-day institutes at locations convenient to international airports.
Jazz Studies: The College of Music at the University of North Texas is one of the largest music schools in the United States, and its Jazz Studies Graduate Program is consistently rated one of the nation's best. A Master of Music, with a major in Jazz Studies, is offered to aspiring performers, composers, scholars and music educators. The program's foundation is based on all important aspects of the musical arts, including composition, conducting, music education, musicology, opera, performance, theory, vocal pedagogy, and accompanying. In addition to the final comprehensive examination, the student must present a public performance as a final project. The program may demonstrate either improvisational or arranging skills, dependent upon the student's emphasis in the program. Master's and doctoral degrees are offered in non-jazz studies including composition, conducting and ensembles, instrumental studies, keyboard, music education, music history, theory and ethnomusicology, and vocal studies.
Master of Business Administration (MBA): The College of Business Administration offers MBA Programs in Accounting, Decision Technologies, Information Technologies, Administrative Management, Health Services Management, Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management, Operations and Supply Chain Management, and Marketing. The College collaborates with other departments at UNT for joint MBA Programs in Hospitality Management, Merchandising, and Engineering Technology.
Merchandising and Hospitality Management: The School of Merchandising and Hospitality Management offers Master of Science degrees in Merchandising and in Hospitality Management. The Master of Science in Merchandising and Hospitality Management is offered in two instructional delivery formats: residence program (on-campus) and web-based program (online).
The School also offers dual degrees of MBA / MS in Merchandising and MBA / MS in Hospitality Management. Merchandising (Industrial-Technical Merchandising and Fabric Analytics) majors and Hospitality Management majors may select either the thesis or non-thesis option.
